Departments of the IFL

The IFL is divided into four departments with different focal points in the context of logistics and conveyor technology. Below you will find an overview of the departments:
AIRIFL
AIR

The AIR department was founded in 2023. This includes two important research directions: developing continuous autonomous learning capabilities for robots and improving their ability to learn from humans.

Various modeling approaches, including operational theory models and simulations, help us to understand and improve the behavior of stochastic systems. [...] we focus on the planning and efficient operation of these systems and address the complex challenges in supply chain management. Edit [5999] The quantification and analysis of throughput rates, capacity utilization and the reliability of system components are crucial for the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics processes in production and distribution centers. After an in-depth analysis, problems are modeled and solved in an application-oriented manner using quantitative algorithmic methods, mathematical optimization and simulation so that they can be transferred to the real world.

In the Mechatronic Systems and Components department, we research and develop innovative intralogistics elements at both system and component level. One research focus is the material flow-side investigation of urban farming systems for the sustainable cultivation of plants in urban areas as an independent and modularly expandable intralogistics module. As part of the development and application of structural optimization methods, we identify optimized component designs while at the same time complying with defined boundary conditions to minimize the required use of materials for innovative materials handling components. [...] we research energy storage systems for use in driverless transport systems.
