The department of Logistics Systems deals with the design and control of logistics systems. It develops methods for the optimization, modeling and assessment of logistics processes as well as strategies for control.
The department of Logistics is planning and designing value-added networks, transportation systems and production and storage locations for partial and complete logistics systems, as well as the related processes. For this purpose, new techniques and strategies for a more effective and efficient use are developed and recommendations for action are developed for suitable techniques and strategies. In order to improve the planning of logistical systems, methods are developed that model the system behavior and thus enable a better dimensioning.
The department also develops methods for the modeling, structuring and evaluation of systems that enable performance analyses by means of simulation, analytics or benchmarking.
The basis for the organization, control and improvement of production and storage systems are methods of lean management, whose effect and transferability is examined in the department.
